Shingle Roof Replacement
A hail-worn 18-year-old roof, replaced end-to-end in two days — with ventilation the original builder skipped.
The Challenge
Granule Loss, Soft Decking, and a Second Layer Hiding Underneath
The homeowners called after finding shingle grit piling up in their gutters. Our inspection found widespread granule loss from a hailstorm two seasons back, two soft deck sections near a valley, and — the surprise — a second shingle layer from a previous overlay job, trapping heat and voiding any warranty path. Repair would have been money into a roof with no base left to save.
Our Approach
Down to the Deck, Then Back Up Better
We stripped both layers, replaced the soft decking, and installed a full architectural shingle system: synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield in valleys, new flashing at every penetration, and — the upgrade the attic desperately needed — a balanced ridge-and-soffit ventilation path. Two days on site, magnetic sweep twice daily, and a signed walkthrough with photos of every layer we installed.
